Guess Who Before You Read. Anybody remember this face? This is a classic, legendary Brasilian player. In 2002, my friend Tim, and I were walking in Rio, about 1 block off of Copacabana Beach. If you don’t recognize his face yet;- He played for Brasil in both the great ‘82’ WC team, and the ‘86’ WC team. In ‘82’, he was the ultimate, classic overlapping Brasilian left-back. One article stated, “He’s the best left-back in the world, but can he defend”.- I can give you a lot more hints, but here’s one more. Think of the beach, and beach soccer as a hint.He used to also play for Brasil’s National beach soccer team. Tim and I were walking down the road, and I looked to my left, and the great ‘Junior’ was leaning against his car. I had to go talk talk to him, and get a photo with ‘Junior’, truly great and friendly.Hope you look him up.

It’s a great technique for when you have no time. When you have no space. When you want to surprise the defense and the keeper.Remember, Brasil had a huge center-forward named Serginho. He would often hit freekicks/deadballs with his toe. This means he had time to decide between using the laces, the inside, or the outside. And, Serginho Chulapa would bypass all those techniques, and choose his toe.Romario scored with his toe twice in the ‘94’ World Cup. Ronaldo scores in the ‘02’ World Cup, using his toe.Hey David Narey, of Scotland, even scored against Brasil in the ‘82’ World Cup, using his toe.
